Becalmed
The
game 'Becalmed' is a simple
race across the Atlantic,
sailing
conditions
can
help
you or hinder you, tactical
play can advance you, but
luck
also plays a big part in
this
game of chance.
The
Rules - 2 or 4 players
The
4 player game:
Choose
a
racing yacht.
The
2 player game:
Choose
a
racing yacht.
You
must
use
the
RED
and
GREEN
yachts,
or
the
BLUE
and
YELLOW
yachts,
(or
if
you
want
to
race
two
yachts
at
a
time
–
Player
one
has
the
RED
and
BLUE
yachts
and
player
two
has
the
GREEN
and
YELLOW
yachts)
Both
games
- RED
always
goes first, owner of
RED yacht clicks on the
ROLL DICE button to reveal
the distance the RED
yacht can move. (e.g.
if the RED player rolls
a five, RED yacht moves
5 spaces along the RED
spots), each player in
turn GREEN, BLUE and
YELLOW rolls the dice
and makes their move.
- You can
choose to travel along
any route to tactically
out-manoeuvre obstacles,
you do not have to stick
to your own colour.
- You can
travel either directions
along a path (backwards
or forwards) but not
backwards and forwards
in one move.
- Only
one
yacht can occupy a space
at a time, unless it is
the ORANGE Becalmed
spot (see note 8). However,
you
can overtake along a path.
- After
rolling
the dice, you MUST move
the number of spaces on
the dice (unless this contradicts
note
4, where you would
be forced into sharing
a
space with another yacht
-
in
this
case
you
must forfeit
the turn). Remember -
you
can go both directions
along a path and you MUST
move if you can.
- If
you
land on the WHITE spots,
you have been slowed down
by a pod of Humpback
whales! When it is your
turn again, you must throw
a 0 or a 6 to continue,
(- by this time they have
passed and you have
taken your photos!) When
you roll the 6 you may
travel six spaces on
the board or choose to
roll again.
- No
two
yachts can occupy the WHITE
spots on the board
at the same time, and an
opponent cannot pass
until the yacht occupying
the WHITE spot has moved
(The whales are still there!),
therefore
the opponent yacht MUST
wait or if possible take
another
route. (e.g. If the RED
yacht is on a WHITE spot,
and it is GREEN’s turn,
GREEN cannot pass the
RED yacht, she MUST however
take another
route around (if possible).
- If you
land on an ORANGE spot
you are BECALMED and
miss a turn.
- If you
land on the PURPLE spot
you are lucky to get
and extra blow of wind,
- you can throw again.
- SIX is
SIX and not an opportunity
to throw again!
- Nought is
Nought and means you
do not move!
- The game
is played in sequence,
RED, GREEN, BLUE and YELLOW
therefore it can
be a draw (e.g. If GREEN
arrives at the Finish line
in
the
same sequence of
rolls as YELLOW, it is
a draw). You do not need
to
throw the exact number
to finish the
race, and you do not
have to berth at your
colour.
Note:
The dice in the middle is
a random
number
generator and will sometimes
generate the
same number as the previous
click of the mouse.
It’s
a Race - Why not put a bet
on it!
